Mesa County Sheriff’s Office testifies in support of stricter crypto regulations
MCSO said the hope the bill prevents financial crimes via cryptocurrency scams.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office testified in support of a new bill that pushes for more transparency in the crypto space.
Senate Bill 79 would make new requirements limiting the daily transactions per customer at a currency kiosk to $1,000. MCSO said the hope the bill prevents financial crimes via cryptocurrency scams.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, criminals defrauded people out of roughly $120 million through financial scams in 2023.
The bill now heads to the Colorado Senate floor for a second reading.
