Detroit residents will be able to pay taxes and other city fees with cryptocurrency starting next year, the city’s Treasury office announced Thursday.
Treasurer Nikhil Patel said the cryptocurrency payment option, managed by PayPal, will be available in mid-2025, along with further improvements to city payment services.
The new payment method is part of a larger push to “explore innovative technologies” and build a “tech-friendly environment,” the city said.
