Two men were arrested Tuesday in connection with the death of cryptocurrency influencer Kevin Mirshahi, the Sûreté du Québec said.

Darius Perry, 27, and Nickeal Hickey, 26, were to be in court Tuesday, accused of complicity in Mirshahi’s death and the kidnappings of three people.

Perry was arrested in Châteauguay in collaboration with local police, an SQ spokesperson said. Hickey was already in SQ custody.

Hickey was arrested in August as a suspect in a shooting in Dollard-des-Ormeaux that left an innocent father and son injured. Hickey is alleged to have been the man who set off an exchange of gunfire with Montreal police.

Houssam Abdallah, 52, and his 18-year-old son Abdel-Rahman Abdallah were shot outside their home on de Salaberry Blvd. The father had just arrived from a camping trip with other members of his family when his son Abdel-Rahman came outside to help unload the car they were in.

They survived the shooting, but the father had to undergo surgery several times.

Included among the 15 charges Hickey faces are four counts of attempted murder. All four are related to members of the Montreal police. None of the charges involve the injuries suffered by the Abdallahs, which suggests police officers may have shot the pair.

Hickey was also injured in the shooting and his case at the Montreal courthouse returns to court in February.

The arrests on Tuesday come weeks after police found a body at Île-de-la-Visitation park in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough that the SQ later identified as belonging to Mirshahi.

Mirshahi was abducted from a condo building alongside three others June 21. While the three other abductees were found soon after, Mirshahi remained missing until his body turned up months later.

In August, the SQ arrested a 32-year-old woman in connection with the death and kidnappings. It followed an arrest warrant that was made public alleging Joanie Lepage, 32, of Les Cèdres, killed Mirshahi on June 21, the day he was abducted.
